I got a full-body fitness analysis that measures your muscle, fat, and metabolism. They even run genetic tests to give you diet and exercise recommendations based on your DNA.
As someone who is all about health testing and shedding light on affordable diagnostic options around the world, finding a U.S. company offering this level of testing at accessible prices felt like a breath of fresh air. The results were incredibly detailed, and honestly one hundred percent worth the money.
This is Dexa Body. Their mission is simple but powerful: personalized health data could help revolutionize healthcare. I originally found them while researching health experiences in Salt Lake City, Utah, but the best part is you do not have to live in Utah to visit them. They can actually visit you.

Dexa Body has a mobile scanning unit that can travel directly to workplaces, gyms, athletic facilities, and offices for on-site scans. They service a large portion of the country including:
Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida.
They frequently work with sports teams and corporate offices to scan players and employees right there on-site.
While we were in Salt Lake, we stopped by the airport and saw the mobile unit in action. The airport had hired Dexa Body to scan their employees and give each person personalized health data to help them understand their baseline and reach their goals. Seeing that in person makes you realize how impactful this can be at scale.

Of course, I had to test everything myself so I could share real results with you. I visited Dexa Body’s in-person facility where I met the owners, Brandon and Veronica. They were incredibly kind and took the time to walk me through each test, explain what the results mean, and make the entire experience feel approachable and educational.

The first test I did was the Resting Metabolic Rate test. This measures how many calories your body burns just to stay alive. They fit you with a device you breathe into while you recline comfortably, and the machine calculates your calorie burn at rest. The test costs $100 and is very helpful for anyone on a fitness or weight loss journey.
If you have ever felt like your efforts plateau, this test can be a huge eye-opener.
Here is what I learned:
I was optimistic after that test, but the next one revealed some concerning gaps in my strength and composition.

A body composition scan measures lean tissue, fat, muscle symmetry, bone density, and visceral fat. It gives a breakdown by region including arms, legs, and trunk, and only takes about ten minutes. The report was significantly more detailed than I expected and is very helpful for detecting health risks, tracking progress, and understanding how your body is built.
Here is where things got interesting for me:

Here are some of the highlights from my report:
Arms
Right arm: 6.0 pounds total (3.5 lean and 2.4 fat)
Left arm: 6.2 pounds total (3.6 lean and 2.1 fat)
Legs
Right leg: 18.4 pounds total (10.7 lean and 6.9 fat)
Left leg: 18.5 pounds total (11.4 lean and 6.3 fat)
Bone Density
T-score: minus 0.8 which is in the normal range for a healthy 30 year old female.
Visceral Fat
0.36 pounds which is low but not zero.
Body Fat Percentage
32.3 percent which puts me slightly above the recommended range for women which is 25 to 31 percent.
The good news is Dexa Body says it is realistic to see a 1-3% improvement in body composition per month with consistent nutrition and resistance training three to five times a week. Their body composition scan is $75, or you can bundle it with the RMR test for $150 total which I felt was an amazing deal.

Next, they swabbed me for all four of their genetic tests. Each test offers DNA-based insights into diet, exercise, supplements, nutrient needs, healthy aging, performance, and lifestyle recommendations.
Here is a breakdown of each one:
Each test is $225 or you can take all four for $525. The results take about a month since they are processed in a lab, so I will update this article as soon as mine are in.

Dexa Body believes knowing your health baseline is the first step toward meaningful change. Data brings clarity. It helps you understand what works for your body and what does not.
Their pricing is extremely accessible:
Their mobile unit makes it possible for companies to offer health data to employees in a very attainable way. One ten minute body composition scan can give someone more insight than they have had in years.

With the metabolism insights, body composition data, and the genetic results on the way, I learned so much from this experience. It’s encouraging to see more affordable health data options in the U.S., and I hope more employers start making testing like this accessible to their employees.
I will update this post once my genetic testing results come in. I am slightly nervous but excited to see what my DNA has to say.
