I took my parents to Türkiye for full-body longevity checkups that would have easily cost over $100,000 in the United States. Not only did they get the most in-depth checkups of their lives, we turned the experience into a full vacation. Now they get to head into retirement with peace of mind.
I first found this hospital in Türkiye in 2024, when I decided to book a full-body checkup for myself. I did their one-day Essential Female package, and it was far beyond anything I’d ever experienced in the U.S. healthcare system. It went so well that I brought my boyfriend back the following month so he could do their three-day Premium checkup.
Now this year, I brought my parents abroad for health treatments for the very first time, and they were just as blown away. In the U.S., their health insurance costs $22,000 a year, and they’ve never had this kind of preventative testing.

Realizing that these health tourism opportunities exist around the world, and being able to share them with my family, has completely changed my life. That’s why I put together detailed articles with pricing, tips, and exactly how I booked everything, so you have the information you need if you want to plan your own health vacations too.
For our 2024 checkup results and frequently asked questions about the hospital we chose you can read our article here.
I booked these checkups by emailing the hospital directly at memorial.eu@memorial.com.tr and requesting more information on available checkups.
You can also fill out an inquiry form on the hospital website here.

I spent a lot of time researching hospitals in 2024 when I booked my own checkup, and I’m happy to say that every visit I’ve had here has been a great experience.
I decided to do all of our checkups through Memorial Hospital Group. They have locations throughout Türkiye, top-tier facilities, and consistently strong reviews. Some locations are JCI accredited, many of their doctors speak English, and they even provide a complimentary translator to accompany you throughout the day.
For this most recent visit with my parents, we went to their newly built Memorial Göztepe location on the Asian side of Istanbul. I’d say it was just as impressive and luxurious as the Memorial Bahçelievler location I visited previously.

This hospital offers seven different checkup packages, ranging from about $1,000 to $5,500 depending on what you’re looking for. Each checkup has a male and female version, with a few tests adjusted accordingly.
One thing I really appreciate about healthcare abroad is the price transparency. When I emailed Memorial to ask about checkup options, they sent over two digital pamphlets with detailed breakdowns of everything included in each package. I’ll share highlights from those here.
In 2024, I did their Essential Checkup, which cost $1,250 and took one full day to complete. Here’s everything that package includes.

If you wanted to do all of that and also add appointments with a neurologist and a general surgeon, plus a cranial MRI, whole abdomen ultrasound, thoracic CT scan, and a 42 biomarker lab panel, they offer an Advanced Checkup for $2,200.

They also have a Premium checkup package, which is what my boyfriend did. This one includes dozens of scans, tests, and specialist appointments, including a colonoscopy and endoscopy, for $3,950 and typically takes two to three days. For someone with a strong family history of cancer, existing health concerns, and who had never done this kind of preventative testing before, this was a solid way for him to establish a health baseline.

Because he had a history of smoking, we opted to do this checkup since it included a CT scan and we ended up finding a polyp in his lung. I’d say this is the kind of checkup that makes sense for him every five to ten years, with other checkup packages in between. If the doctors don’t think a CT scan is necessary for you, I’d pick one of the other checkup package options.
That brings us to Memorial’s oncology-focused checkups, which are newer offerings. For this trip, my parents chose their Longevity checkup package. They live healthy lifestyles, but at 55, they’d never done preventative testing at this level, so we decided to go with the most comprehensive option.
This checkup takes three days and includes appointments with a cardiologist, dermatologist, internal medicine doctor, ophthalmologist, gastroenterologist, general surgeon, and a gynecologist or urologist. It also includes a breast ultrasound and mammogram for females, thyroid ultrasound, dental exam, bone density scan, ECG, treadmill stress test, skin cancer screening, colonoscopy, endoscopy, stomach and colon biopsies, four cancer marker tests, 47 lab tests, a hereditary cancer genetic panel, and a full-body MRI. The total cost is $5,500, no insurance required, and it’s HSA eligible.

What’s included doesn’t stop with the medical testing. Every checkup also comes with airport pickup and dropoff, transportation between your hotel and the hospital each day, a translator and coordinator who stays with you throughout your appointments, results translated into English, and the option for a free second medical opinion. I’ll share the full list of inclusions here.

One newer addition that I really love is their menu of checkup add-ons, which lets you customize your visit based on what you need. My personal favorite is the $1,100 full-body MRI add-on, which is the most affordable price I’ve ever seen for that.

Here are the other three oncology checkup package options as well.
*Package details shown below reflect the male versions of these check-ups. Female check-up packages follow a similar structure but include gender-specific exams and screenings.

When we travel, we like to combine health treatments with a vacation. We’ve found that even with flights, hotels, and time away included, we still spend less on the entire trip than we would getting the same treatments in the United States. Along the way, we often incorporate other experiences that are simply more affordable abroad, like getting clothes tailored, aesthetic medicine, or even a visit to the hair salon.
For me, this kind of travel is about widening the map of what’s possible. Looking beyond the U.S. for healthcare, wellness, and everyday services has allowed us to combine the trips we dream about with the care we actually need. It’s changed the way we plan travel and helped us afford things in life that we’d be putting off.
We did a full health and beauty trip cost breakdown last time we went to Turkiye here.
