Robots have taken over California, and I kinda love it.
From AI-powered massages and beauty treatments, to full-body scans and personalized skincare mixed by actual robots, it's like we're riiiiight in the sweet spot before AI world takeover, and California is making the most of it.
I rounded up the best futuristic health and beauty experiences in California that you can add to your next vacation, so here’s everything we did on our tech-meets-wellness trip to Cali and what it costs.
Some of these experiences have locations across the U.S., but California is where we started our search. This was my first deep dive into finding the best health and beauty treatments in the U.S., and so far, it’s looking very promising.
Whether you're a local or planning a trip to California, these futuristic wellness experiences are the perfect additions to your itinerary, between Universal Studios and the Santa Monica Pier.
This AI-powered body scan can detect early signs of more than 500 conditions and includes 160 lab tests to give you a detailed snapshot of your health.
It might be the most affordable full-body scan in the country, and we wrote a full article on how it works here.
You can choose between:
The 160 lab tests are available at over 2,000 partner locations across the U.S., making it easy to access no matter where you live. We actually did the lab test portion of our memberships in Oregon, and then added on the scan during our trip to California.
As of right now, there are AI 100 body scan locations in the US, with more being added quickly, and the article we wrote has a list of locations.
You can use code BWRIGHT13 to skip the waitlist!
This is LUUM located in San Francisco and they want to use robotics to revolutionize the beauty industry.
When you arrive, a human lash artist walks you through the experience from start to finish. For now, they offer three natural lash styles, and instead of traditional glue, they use UV light to cure the lashes. This makes them longer-lasting and more comfortable for people who are sensitive to lash glue.
The robot handles about 70 percent of the lash application, spending around 15 minutes per eye. Then the lash artist steps in to finish the design. Since lash installation is such a detailed and time-consuming process, many artists experience burnout. The robot frees up time for artists to focus on creativity and refinement by streamlining the more tedious parts.
They say safety is their top priority, and based on my experience, I believe it. The tiny robot arms moved through my lashes so gently, it felt like butterfly kisses. Each arm is lighter than a pencil and built to pause automatically if you move. They’re also magnetically attached, so if you sneeze or shift unexpectedly, they pop off safely without causing any harm.
In more exciting news, LUUM is already working on the next generation of robots that can work on both eyes at once! Their goal is to cut down the traditional two-hour lash appointment to just 30 minutes.
We kicked things off with an Aescape robot massage at Pause Studio City. It’s currently one of just two Aescape locations in California, but they’ve already expanded to other cities across the U.S.
This machine has won multiple design awards, and every detail of the experience was developed with massage therapists to replicate real human touch. I wasn’t sure the tech would be advanced enough to impress me, but it absolutely was. It's even cooler than you'd expect.
When you arrive, you’re given specially designed Aerwear clothing since it’s a clothes-on, oil-free massage. Their sensors scan your body and collect 1.2 million data points so the robot can “see” you and deliver a fully customized massage. This isn’t a generic, one-size-fits-all experience. It’s built around your body.
During your session, you’ll look into a touchscreen where you can pick your music, watch calming visuals like rain or ocean waves, and track the massage in real time. You can also adjust the pressure at any point. The robotic arms are heated to 95 degrees and mimic seven massage techniques.
They have a full menu of massage types to choose from, and I booked the 30-minute Power Up massage. Some locations include added perks with your massage, and at this one, you get a free session of cryotherapy, red light therapy, or sauna with your booking.
Especially with no tipping required, this is easily one of the most affordable wellness experiences I’ve tried in America!
We found the doctor’s office of the future, and it comes with a gym, recovery center, pickleball courts, restaurant, and spa.
We wrote a full article on how a membership here works.

Next up, we tried custom Korean skincare made by robots.
These robots were developed in Korea, and the system uses AI to scan your skin and build a personalized formula just for you.
SmartSKN is on a mission to cut down on waste in the skincare industry. With so many people buying products that end up unused, they wanted to offer a smarter alternative. Instead of grabbing a one-size-fits-all product off the shelf, you walk away with a custom skincare line that’s actually based on what your skin needs right now.
The process starts with an AI-powered dermascope that scans your skin in four different spots. It analyzes factors like sensitivity, pigmentation, wrinkles, redness, pore size, dryness, blemishes, and even your moisture and oil levels.
Then, the AI takes all of that data and creates a custom skin care formula designed for your current skin needs. The idea is that your skin is always changing, so your products should adapt to you.
Prices start at $75, which feels pretty reasonable for something this personalized.
California might be known for its beaches, theme parks, and celebrity sightings, but it's also quietly becoming a hub for some of the most innovative health and beauty experiences in the world.
And the best part? You don’t have to spend a fortune to do it. I’ve put together guides on how to find cheap flights and affordable places to stay, so you can plan a wellness-forward trip without breaking the bank.
Whether you’re squeezing in a body scan between hikes or booking a lash robot before hitting the beach, these kinds of experiences can elevate your trip and actually leave you feeling healthier by the time you head home.
